Privacy policy
How Receipt Snap handles receipt images during scanning
Effective July 21, 2026. This policy explains how receiptsnap.net processes receipt images for one-time scanning and bill splitting. It is written for clarity and should be read alongside any jurisdiction-specific legal requirements that apply to your use of the service.
1. Information we process
When you upload a receipt, the service processes the image so OCR and receipt extraction can identify line items, totals, tax, tip, and other visible details for the split workflow. We may also process limited technical metadata such as browser type, device information, error logs, and request timing to keep the scanner reliable.
2. No receipt storage
Receipt Snap is currently designed so receipt images are used for scanning and bill splitting, not for creating a receipt archive. The product is intended to avoid presenting your receipt as a saved document record on our servers. If receipt storage is added in a future roadmap, we will announce that change on the site and update this privacy policy before or at launch.
- No receipt library is currently provided.
- No advertising profiles are built from uploaded receipt content.
- No account is required for basic scan-and-split usage.
- Future storage features will require user control and permission.
3. Advertising and analytics
The site may use analytics and advertising technologies to understand usage and fund the free tool. Those providers may process cookies or device information according to their own policies. We do not intend to use uploaded receipt content to build advertising profiles. We also avoid ad rendering during active scanner states like upload, processing, and scan-error recovery.
4. User responsibilities
Only upload receipts or documents you are authorized to process. Avoid sending bank statements, identity documents, or other unrelated sensitive records unless a feature explicitly asks for them. If you need a permanent copy, keep your own records outside this service.
5. Security and third parties
We use standard web security practices and service providers to operate the product, but no online transmission or storage system is perfectly secure. Third-party services that assist with analytics, hosting, or processing are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
6. Contact about privacy
If you have a privacy question or a request related to the handling of a scanned receipt, use the contact page and include the date, browser, and general description of the issue. We will review the request and respond using the contact details you provide.
