Common Problems When Scanning Thermal Receipts
Thermal receipts fade faster than standard paper and are sensitive to glare. This makes OCR errors more likely unless capture conditions are controlled.

Old thermal receipts often lose contrast, making numbers hard to detect. Scan these receipts quickly after purchase whenever possible.
Glare and hotspots
Overhead lights can wash out text. Slightly changing the angle or moving the receipt away from direct reflections improves readability.
Blur from handheld motion
Even minor camera shake can damage OCR quality. Hold steady for one extra second before capture and check sharpness immediately.
